Be prepared to stick your tongue to a metal pole and eat soap Tsai-entology, you potty mouth! I went to the Christmas Story House this weekend.
Located in the neighborhood of Tremont, just west of Cleveland, the house itself was just used for outside shots, but the inside has been transformed into a permanent replica and tribute to the movie. You can look in Ralphie’s room where a letter to Santa sits on his desk asking for the infamous Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time. Also inside the house are the BB gun, the leg lamp, and 1940s paraphernalia.
The best part of the tour is the museum located in another house across the street. That is where you will find authentic props and costumes from the movie, such as original toys from Higby’s window and Randy’s red snow suit.
Right now is the best time to go as snow gives the outside an authentic look, but the house is open all year long.
