I have to add something to the book list. As a compulsive shopper with an addiction, I think this book might guide me in the direction to recovery. Its themes include why consumers have to buy the most expensive brands, how this relates to finding a mate or companions, and how we have evolved as consumers. The book, Spent: Sex, Evolution, and Consumer Behavior, is by Geoffrey Miller an evolutionary psychologist and associate professor at the University of New Mexico.
