Lip Service

I don’t do beauty posts usually. And there is a good reason for that. Beauty products intimidate me. There are usually too many options to consider, and I get overwhelmed, so I go with the most simple thing possible. But lately, as I read more of your great blogs, such as Dina’s Days, who is a beauty maven, and Smitten in Cleveland who just recently did a post on bright lip colors, I get a little inspired. So when I found out that J.Crew’s Spring 2011 models were wearing Nars Heatwave I asked for it for Christmas. It is the most expensive lipstick I own at $24, but it is an amazing bright red color that will go with everything. That lipstick is pictured in the first two photos. And my drug store, low-maintenance, go-to is Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Cranberry Cocktail, which will run you about $6. And I of course, rub my Burt’s Bees on my lips before I apply either of these. So here are two really nice colors at varying price points. I don’t know if this helps anyone, but I figure there may be other people out there just as lost as me.

  1. Oh Christina, you killed it! This shade looks absolutely wonderful on you. Sure, the $24 price tag may seem a tad high, but this will last you forever, and this is some serious quality lipstick. On my radar: Nars Roman Holiday. It's a beautiful shade of pink, and I think it might work well with my skin tone. And thanks for the compliment, I'm far from a beauty maven..just love to play around with makeup!
