I was inspired by this lady with her bold print skirt and tie knot blouse. It immediately made me think I could try something similar with my big print skirt and casual chambray button down. I haven’t worn this skirt in ages, but it is definitely one I will need to dust off more often as I got a lot of compliments on it. I love the classic American summer feel of this look.

This is the remix! Ok so here I took some elements I liked from this work outfit, the ruffle shirt and statement necklace, and turned it into a more casual look with flat sandals and a crisp jean skirt. I was going to wear shorts but I thought I’d mix it up with a denim skirt. I threw on the cardigan because the temps have been a little more brisk lately.

A feminine, breathable maxi dress is sublime for a hot day. I love the way this dress mixes bohemian touches with a classic paisley pattern and lace trim. It can be elevated to a more dressy look or worn casually for a comfortably chic look. I wore it when we went out to dinner last night. We enjoyed our dinner and martinis on the outdoor patio where this dress proved its worth in spades on a balmy summer night.
We rang in summer with some Rita’s Italian ice last night and these colorful citronella candles from Marshalls ($8 for three!)

This weather has me going crazy. I’m sweating by the time I get to work in the morning and by the end of the day I am a Popsicle. There is no happy medium. The key to all of this is dressing in layers. Today I wanted long sleeves without the all day commitment so I wore this blazer over a shift dress. The scarf is just an extra layer of warmth and just happens to go really well with this dress. Then when the day is done and it’s time to step into my hot car, I can take off the blazer and it turns into a sleeveless ensemble. Voila!

I’ve mentioned before that I like to dress up when flying. I also like to challenge myself to come up with an outfit that is just as comfortable as it is dressy. This skirt was the perfect bottom to wear to the airport. My legs had breathing room and the stretchy fabric made my bum comfortable in the confined space of my seat. Not to mention it creates such a great contrast to the RL-button-down-with-a-blazer look. You also can’t neglect the proper footwear. These sandals slip off and they can manage running to catch a layover. The only challenge this outfit poses is taking off the blazer to get through security.

Last weekend, I attended my first Girl Talk concert. It was everything I hoped for. No dance experience will ever compare. I thought this tribal print dress from Target for $12 was the perfect outfit for the event. Happy Weekend!
