The first snow of the season came fast and furious in Pittsburgh last week. I hadn’t even thought of my winter work wear strategy when I was confronted with issues such as “How do I keep my legs warm?” and “If I want to layer a turtle neck under a button down, should people start calling me Martha Stewart?” I was able to keep my wits about me long enough to decide to go for pants and riding boots. The combination would not be complete without a blazer layered on top to elevate it from a tailored weekend look to a polished work look. Also, I just can’t seem to break up with these pants.
What did you wear on the first snow of the year?

Green and navy are an easy go to combination when you need an outfit fast as was the case yesterday morning when I had not laid out anything to wear for work the night before. Also, it wasn’t snowing yesterday, but I could have easily worn my riding boots with this outfit if that was the case. As it was the emerald jewel tone of this skirt was the perfect rich color for a fall day. I stuck with mostly navy otherwise to make the polka dots pop and I chose gold jewelry to go with the warm hues of this outfit. The brown loafers always make such a perfect statement with navy and green. What is your quick go-to outfit combination when you are running out the door?
With the weekend almost here I wanted to revisit an outfit that I wore last year around this time. I still love this color combination and how the outfit can be dressed up or dressed down with just a quick shoe change. The verdict is still out on these Target pants that get loose after several hours of wear. What are you wearing/doing this weekend?

I bought these burgundy jeans as soon as August got here. Burgundy jeans for fall felt like the right addition to my wardrobe, which is filled with a lot of navy, white, black and gray. With all of those choices, I still wanted to challenge myself a little more with an interesting color combination. I thought these similar hues would really compliment each other. The sweater helps to tie in the turquoise while making it pop at the same time.
Just for fun, I wanted to show you this outfit dressed down with boots and dressed up slightly with leopard print heels. My only peeve with these jeans is how they get really loose after only a couple of hours of wear. Oh well! It’s to the dryer for them!

Halloween is over. The leaves are changing. It’s officially November. So you really need to start getting down with layering. If you haven’t heard it loud and clear, that’s what it’s all about. Life is all about layering. In life I have many layers and in the fall time I have many layers. Like an onion. I love layering for work especially because it makes it easy to incorporate unexpected pieces like this artsy, lace top. Normally this top is long and loose, but I tucked it into my pants and layered it over a button down to keep it looking professional. Would you wear an outfit like this one to work? What do you love to layer with?
