Neon, Coral and White

Neon yellow, coral and white is my new favorite color combination. I wore this outfit earlier this spring without the necklace and noticed that something was missing. Neon yellow must be a trend this year because that immediately came to mind. Luckily, I found this chunky statement necklace at Old Navy and was able to complete the idea I had pictured for a Casual Friday look. I wear a light sweater in this picture that might be nice to counter the office AC, but I think a gray t-shirt would be just as work appropriate paired with this blazer and slim cut pants.

Layering with Lace

Lace top via Marshalls / Willie Smith Shirt via TJ Maxx / J.Crew skirt via Avalon Exchange / Halogen boots via Nordstrom / J.Crew Factory necklace / Michael Kors watch and cuff

Lace is typically not something I utilize in my work wardrobe. However, this lace tank layered over one of my standard button downs adds just the right amount of texture. It’s feminine yet paired with these structured work separates adds an interesting and unexpected detail. I wore this outfit to work a few weeks ago, when tights were still a requirement. This outfit would look just as cute with bare legs and a pair of sandals or brown pumps.

P.S. I can’t believe Memorial Day is right around the corner. I plan to take it easy and enjoy the nice weather coming our way. I’d love to hear about your plans. Anyone doing anything fun?

My models were a mix of friends and volunteers so I got to spend some time with two of my very good friends from college — both pregnant and rocking the runway — as well as some new friends. Everyone looked gorgeous and I was very happy with how the outfits turned out. I am wearing a J.Crew skirt that I got at Avalon Exchange in Squirrel Hill for $10, Loft top, Nine West shoes, and a mix of J.Crew factory and vintage pearls.

My show was first, so it was kind of nice to be able to relax and watch some of the other shows. I was excited to mingle with friends and family after the show who were all very complimentary of my looks. The show seems to be growing every year. Last year I didn’t feel much of a media presence, but this year, Fox 8 anchors were present as well as the online radio show who interviewed me, Elite Radio Show.

I could not have been ready in time without my Mom, who helped me iron all of the looks. Thank you, Mom! Also, a big thanks to my models who were outstanding and to Goodwill for asking me to be a part of this great event.

Floral Print, Black and White

Target cardigan via Goodwill / Gap shirt  and jeans / Nine West shoes via TJ Maxx / Michael Kors watch and cuff

This floral print cardigan paired with this black and white stripe makes me think of flowers against a cast iron fence. These two things create a contrast yet look so good together. Black and floral print is a great way to wear florals for an updated and edgier look. However, nothing can look too edgy with a ruffled collar and bow-tie heels.

I hope you all had a great weekend and an even better Mother’s Day. I am lucky to say I spent Mother’s Day with my mom. Also, the Goodwill Good Style Fashion Show was a great success. I will be providing a recap later this week. So keep your eyes peeled for fashion show goodness.

Signs of Spring: Gingham

Details: Gap dress / Loft tights / Halogen boots via Nordstrom / Banana Republic necklace / Target turtle neck

April was a busy month to say the least. I had a lovely Easter, saw my sister get her White Coat and finished up my spring semester of grad school. I promise I wore really cute outfits for all of it, which I will try to recap here.

Although this week started out a little chilly, I think we are turning a corner here. (Of course I think that every week.)  This outfit puts your casual Friday jeans to shame. It’s spring without sacrificing any warmth, which is especially important on those cold spring mornings. See the way I styled it last summer with sneakers here.

Also, if you haven’t bought your tickets for the Goodwill Good Style Fashion Show this Thursday, see all of the details here. I cannot wait to reveal all of the outfits I put together this year. It’s going to be a great show, and I hope to see you there!
