Well, it’s officially winter. Our first real snow storm hit us over the weekend. Luckily, it was nothing major, just enough snow to cover the grass, but keep the roads clear. That’s the kind of snow I like. My weekend was a good mix of productive and fun. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw in my stories that I’m trying a capsule wardrobe for the first time. Couldn’t be more excited about it. It’s freed up a ton of space in my closet already. I followed this step-by-step guide if you’re interested.
We saw Vice, a very good and interesting movie. Christian Bale’s transformation for the movie is amazing and will likely get him on Oscar nomination.
My friends and I tried a new restaurant in Bellevue called Revival on Lincoln. I loved the food, but also the traditional decor and architecture. It’s housed in a historic building with beautiful white columns and stained-glass windows.
I wore this outfit to dinner and could not have been cozier on a cold winter night. This beautiful cable-knit sweater is another purchase from the Christmas sales, marked down from $120 to $67. It’s such a versatile piece and adds something to any look. It’s currently sold out, but I’ve linked to a similar option.
Here I’m back to my gray-on-gray combo that I’ve been gravitating to lately. This was the first day of my capsule wardrobe. I’m already relying heavily on my accessories for variety, and I love this sweater-necklace combo.
Hope you’re staying safe and warm this week!

We’re officially back into the swing of things. Our Christmas decorations have been taken down and carefully stored away for next year, and it’s our first full week back after the holidays. How are you holding up? I’m doing surprisingly well, considering. Although I’m always one of those people who is eager to start the new year and set new goals. And the weather hasn’t been as terrible as it normally is around this time of year, which makes it a lot better.
I found these leggings while Christmas shopping for $20. Now they’re down to $15! I’ve been wanting to try out pleather leggings for a while, and I have to say I really like them. They’re great for adding a little something extra to everyday outfits or updating any of your old wardrobe staples. I think they’re best paired with long tunics and preppy sweaters and shoes that balance out their edgy look (unlike the leopard print ones I’m wearing here!).
Happy New Year! I hope you had a great time celebrating the end of 2018. I had some exciting news of my own to end the year. My boyfriend and I got engaged on New Year’s Eve! We’re both thrilled and looking forward to what 2019 will bring. Besides that I’m just trying to get back into the swing of things after completely disregarding healthy eating and exercise for close to two weeks.
In addition to shopping for people on my Christmas list, I tried to find some deals for myself during the holidays. I decided to focus on big chunky sweaters this year since those seemed to be a major category missing from my wardrobe. I’ve been trying to clean out my closet every season, getting rid of styles I no longer care for or wear. Last year, I did a big purge of my sweaters, leaving my closet woefully low on this wardrobe staple. With colder temperatures right around the corner, I was glad to stock up while they were on sale.
This pointelle sweater from Loft is one of my favorites. It’s big, chunky, and cozy, and styles perfectly with jeans and booties. I also want to try it with skirts for work. Currently, this sweater is almost sold out, but luckily Loft has a lot of other cute styles like this texturestich sweater and marled sweater. What are you wearing to stay warm this winter?
