I love seeing the bold, bright colors that originated from the Spring 2011 runways on blogs and in stores. Prada was one of my favorite examples of this employing color blocking techniques, stripes, and amazing jungle prints. According to Style.com, the designer was channeling Jazz Age Superwoman Josephine Baker. What better role model to guide you as you pair bright pink with green and black stripes? That’s another thing I love about stripes this year. They aren’t just coming in the form of the typical blue and white striped nautical theme. They are in black and blue and green and bright pink. Like Miucca Prada said, “It’s time to be bold.” The bright colors feel to me like walking, breathing pop art A la Andy Warhol.
I can’t wait to read Nicky Haslam’s memior, Redeeming Features, being published by Knopf next year. His notable relations with high society included Andy Warhol, Joan Crawford, and Lady Dianna Cooper.
