Today I get to share with you the first item that was sent to me from the very nice people over at Jack Wills, the Laceby Boyfriend Shirt. I really like the blue and white checkered pattern on this shirt. It definitely screams summer, and I have been really digging the whole menswear trend. I tried to add some girly details like the flower pin on my trench and my black heels and pearl necklace to balance it all out. I imagine wearing this shirt with a skirt to a summer picnic or with boyfriend jeans and sandals to a farmer’s market. What’s fun about this shirt, and most menswear-inspired pieces, is that you can dress them up or down.
Burberry Cotton shirt tunic, $395
See by Chloe Twill mini shorts, $89
South Beach Sandal in Black, $95
Women’s bags – straw bags – Seaside tote – J.Crew, $45
Folding Wayfarer RB4105 Sunglasses | Official Ray-Ban Site, $205
I love boyfriend shirts that have a slimmer fit to them and a nice length. I think wearing them over shorts this summer can create the illusion that you are wearing nothing underneath, but you can still stay covered up. Pair this outfit with flat sandals for a nice stroll on the beach or with high heels and a belt for going out.
My favorite new beach cover up is my boyfriend’s button down dress shirt. It’s kind of like a kaftan, but more casual and a tad bit sexier. It helped me cover up the inevitable sun burn I had on my arms. No need to steel his since so many retailers are selling a boyfriend variety shirt. I am sure that Target or Marshalls have shirts that will work just the same. I’m bringing trends to the streets and the beach….right.
