For a casual Sunday filled with church, an impromptu ice cream run and relaxing outside, I broke out the gingham and whites. I love the color of this green gingham boyfriend shirt from Gap. It fits a little looser, which is much appreciated in the hot weather. I’ve had the white skirt for a while, and it’s such a cute way to stay cool. The green and white together create such a crisp, fresh look. This outfit could not be complete without my J.Crew straw tote.
We tried Piccadilly on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon for the first time. Piccadilly offers organic and vegan frozen yogurt options. I tried the salted caramel with cheesecake bites, berries and chocolate syrup. It was to superb! I pretty much fell in love with the decor. It’s bright, cheery and little funky featuring pieces from local artists.

The American Flag is an inspiring thing. 50 little white stars twinkling at you on a blue background paired with strong red and white stripes. Don’t you just love it? I found a scarf like this while shopping in Annapolis last year, and I regretted not buying it all year. When I went back this year with my sister I had to see if they still had it. Since I was in a serious saving mode at the time, I decided not to get it. When my sister saw me put the scarf back she offered to buy it for me as an early birthday gift. I accepted her generous offer without much hesitation. I love that the scarf creates a cool American vibe without looking overdone. I’ll find any excuse to pair it with my chambray shirt at work or a white t-shirt and jeans for a more casual look.
I hope you have a lovely Fourth of July. Here are some other patriotic scarves I love:

Boyfriend jeans were like my Moby Dick. I had searched through racks of clothing, online and in stores to find a pair that had the right fit, the right price and the right wash. Finding the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans is an elusive thing. I am still not entirely sure that I actually find them that flattering, but I am really happy with the fit of these and at $36 they were within my budget. Now that I have found a pair I love, I have appropriately paired them with preppy stripes and bow heels for a casual Friday look. Because what else would you wear with them? Also, fall seems like just the right time to break these out. I can’t wait to pair them with slouchy sweaters and booties for the perfectly casual look. Do you like boyfriend jeans?

I’m sure you have a piece or two in your closet that leads a double life. This dress with its sporty cut and jersey material is especially adept at shape shifting from casual to dressy. Just swap out a few accessories and I’ve gone from baseball game to dinner and drinks without much effort. What versatile piece do you rely on in your wardrobe?
Casual: Banana Republic dress, Old Navy jean jacket, Chuck Taylors, Stella and Dot earrings
Dressy: Banana Republic dress, Ily Couture necklace, Stella and Dot earrings, Tommy Hilfiger shoes, Coach purse
Every year, I go back and forth between wearing something very patriotic and more subtle for the 4th of July. This year, I feel like I want to take the more laid back subtle approach. It is a holiday after all and my birthday is the day after. So there will be plenty of chances to wear dresses and look fancy this weekend.
I feel like this outfit still feels appropriately patriotic with its nautical stripes and a little bit fancier because of the peplum. Also, these shorts that I scored at J.Crew Factory for $19 have been my go-tos this summer. I can’t believe I ever doubted the need for green shorts in my life. J.Crew Factory has marked down their shorts again until July 8. You can shop for them here.

As far as crop tops go, this one is pretty tame. I like that the tie front is adjustable, meaning I can show or not show as much belly as I’d like. Despite the fact that I don’t really have a lot of use for crop tops in my wardrobe, I just couldn’t walk out of Goodwill without this one. It may have also had something to do with the $3 price tag. If anything I have a cute top to wear to back yard parties. It definitely keeps you cool on humid days, which is especially important when you are involved in a very competitive game of corn hole.

April was a busy month to say the least. I had a lovely Easter, saw my sister get her White Coat and finished up my spring semester of grad school. I promise I wore really cute outfits for all of it, which I will try to recap here.
Although this week started out a little chilly, I think we are turning a corner here. (Of course I think that every week.) This outfit puts your casual Friday jeans to shame. It’s spring without sacrificing any warmth, which is especially important on those cold spring mornings. See the way I styled it last summer with sneakers here.
Also, if you haven’t bought your tickets for the Goodwill Good Style Fashion Show this Thursday, see all of the details here. I cannot wait to reveal all of the outfits I put together this year. It’s going to be a great show, and I hope to see you there!
