I am still getting dressed over here! Don’t worry about me! It’s just that when there are three inches of snow on your porch and it’s 20 degrees outside, you tend to get lazy about taking outfit pictures. The only thing that has changed since we last spoke is that ever since I saw Beyonce perform at the Super Bowl, I have rekindled my love for Destiny’s Child. Also, did you see how multifunctional her outfit was? This is the perfect segue into why I love this dress.
I originally bought this dress when I was asked by my very dear friends to be their daughter’s godmother. It was the perfect level of appropriateness for church and I thought it had the best color palate and pattern for a winter event. Since then I also have found it appropriate for work with it’s high neckline and modest hemline. Overall I am getting a lot of use out of a dress that I bought for $27 during the big Christmas eve mark downs.

Do you guys remember the movie Factory Girl? The story of Edie Sedgewick, socialite and muse to Andy Warhol. Ever since that movie came out, all I have wanted to do was run around in shift dresses and be fabulous. The typical life of a socialite. However, I think I would feel bad doing nothing, so I would have to become a super witty 60s spy or something. But anyways, when I saw this dress at Gap in the sale section, my heart skipped a beat. For $25 I could, in fact, be fabulous! Not to mention it’s bright and graphic, trends I have been really into lately. I can see myself pairing this with black tights on cool fall days.
If looking like pop art, isn’t enough, I smell like it too. While reading an interview with Sarah Heyward, writer for HBO’s GIRLS on Loop de Luxe, I was tipped off about A Beautiful Life Brands, PoP Eau de Parfum. The scent goes on strong but mellows out for a nice everyday perfume. I was able to get the already affordable perfume at a discount, so I highly recommend you check out Loop de Luxe.

Ah! This dress. One of my most treasured finds this summer. It is from the MNG by Mango for JC Penny line, which by the way was surprisingly good. The perfect day dress for baby showers and bridal showers. For a more casual wedding this dress has legs. Literally. The puckered shoulders and key hole are great details and who doesn’t love stripes? I hope you all found a great day dress you fell in love with this summer. Do tell us about it!

Bridal showers are one of those events that constantly have me going and back and forth in my mind about what I want to wear. I am always at the brink of going to the mall and just buying a completely new outfit because I can’t decide on anything in my closet. It’s always a toss up between conservative and traditional and contemporary and young. I see people pull off both styles amazingly well, but there is a fine line between looking frumpy if you go the conservative route and looking too sexy if you go with contemporary. As one of the bridesmaids, I chose to go with this Betty Draper-esque day dress. I knew I would be standing in front of grandmas and aunts of the bride who may not appreciate a more contemporary look. So I am really curious, what do you wear to bridal showers? Does it change if you are a bridesmaid?
