Summer is still alive and kicking so I am not yet abandoning this tried and true formula: floral prints + brights = fashionable yet easy wear to work outfit. With this outfit in particular, I was proud of myself for trying the mix of purple and green — a color combination I don’t try that often but really like. The green flower print pattern definitely elevates this look past your typical color blocking. It’s like color blocking on caffeine. This look was relatively inexpensive to create when you consider I purchased the top at Goodwill for about $4 and the skirt at a consignment shop for $20.

I attended the Pittsburgh performance of Les Misérables yesterday. I loved it! Admittedly, I only became a fan of the musical after seeing the movie. So as you can imagine, I was very excited to see the live performance. When the tickets came up on Groupon, I snatched them up. Even after I could not get anyone to go with me, I decided that I didn’t care going alone.
Going to an event like that alone is such a different experience. If you’re late or if you cry, only the strangers sitting next to you know about it, which is how I prefer it. I don’t want anyone I know seeing me as I cry during the finale “Do You Hear the People Sing?” You also have a heightened awareness of the people around you. I loved the older gentlemen on my right who fist pumped to the opening drums and the younger man on my left who was mouthing the words to “Do You Hear the People Sing?” at the finale. He understood why I was crying! Have you ever attended an event alone?
If you are lacking the confidence to attend an event alone, wearing a polished look will help. I was waiting for the right ocassion to wear this Talbots skirt I scored at Avalon for $10. The sunny day we had Sunday and the fact that it was a matinee, made this the perfect choice. I love the way the light yellow looks with this equally sweet mint green. Do you pair your pastels together?

Several things come to mind when I look at this adorable fox sweater: Zooey Deschanel, Christmas gifts from your grandma, Firefox, Put a bird on it from Portlandia… the list goes on.
I wore this outfit to work one snowy day and when people complimented me on it, all I could say was something to the affect of, “Thanks, I love cute animals…”
My name is Christina, I’m 28 years old, and I am addicted to cute animals. Also, cat videos on YouTube, let’s just be honest.
I don’t care how old I am. I am totally embracing the quirky placement of woodland creatures on clothing. After all, I am curious like a fox.

Green and navy are an easy go to combination when you need an outfit fast as was the case yesterday morning when I had not laid out anything to wear for work the night before. Also, it wasn’t snowing yesterday, but I could have easily worn my riding boots with this outfit if that was the case. As it was the emerald jewel tone of this skirt was the perfect rich color for a fall day. I stuck with mostly navy otherwise to make the polka dots pop and I chose gold jewelry to go with the warm hues of this outfit. The brown loafers always make such a perfect statement with navy and green. What is your quick go-to outfit combination when you are running out the door?
