Well, it’s officially winter. Our first real snow storm hit us over the weekend. Luckily, it was nothing major, just enough snow to cover the grass, but keep the roads clear. That’s the kind of snow I like. My weekend was a good mix of productive and fun. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw in my stories that I’m trying a capsule wardrobe for the first time. Couldn’t be more excited about it. It’s freed up a ton of space in my closet already. I followed this step-by-step guide if you’re interested.
We saw Vice, a very good and interesting movie. Christian Bale’s transformation for the movie is amazing and will likely get him on Oscar nomination.
My friends and I tried a new restaurant in Bellevue called Revival on Lincoln. I loved the food, but also the traditional decor and architecture. It’s housed in a historic building with beautiful white columns and stained-glass windows.
I wore this outfit to dinner and could not have been cozier on a cold winter night. This beautiful cable-knit sweater is another purchase from the Christmas sales, marked down from $120 to $67. It’s such a versatile piece and adds something to any look. It’s currently sold out, but I’ve linked to a similar option.
Here I’m back to my gray-on-gray combo that I’ve been gravitating to lately. This was the first day of my capsule wardrobe. I’m already relying heavily on my accessories for variety, and I love this sweater-necklace combo.
Hope you’re staying safe and warm this week!
I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving. Soon we’ll be mashing the potatoes, slicing the turkey, and Reddi Whipping the pie while watching giant cartoon characters float through New York City on TV. Thanksgiving is starting to become one of my favorite holidays because of its simple premise: gathering for a good meal with the people you love most and being thankful. That’s it and I love it. In my opinion, there is no better way to be. I love celebrating and appreciating my gracious hosts by wearing a thoughtfully put together outfit befitting the occasion. To help make your holiday a special one, I’ve put together three outfit ideas from casual to dressy that will hopefully inspire your ensemble. Cheers to being grateful with the ones you love!
Outfit Idea #1: Dressy Top / Jeans / Pumps / Chunky Necklace
This is likely what I will be wearing since it’s pretty casual at my aunt’s house. It’s just relaxing on the couch and eating really good food all day. I love the idea of elevating a pair of jeans with a statement blouse like this one.
Outfit Idea #2: Chambray Top / Black Skirt / Loafers / Chunky Necklace
This is a good option if you’re going to someone’s house for Thanksgiving for the first time and you’re not sure of the dress code. It’s dressy but not overly so.
Outfit Idea 3: Plaid Scarf / Black Dress / Riding Boots
I love this look for a dressier dinner. You could easily wear this with black heels instead of riding boots if it’s really dressy.

I have been desperate to wear anything that resembles spring lately, and it’s been one of those years when winter seems to drag on uncontrollably. These embroidered jeans are one way I’m trying to breath some life back into my wardrobe. I love the detail and color of the flowers, and although this is a lighter wash jean than I’m used to, they seem to go with all of my cozy sweaters, so I can wear them through the uncertain weather days of March. When it does finally get warmer, I can’t wait to wear them with a silk camisole and espadrilles.
I got these jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch of all places! I can’t believe I’m shopping there again, but they have had some really cute, affordable styles lately. Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean I’ll be endorsing the return of puka shell necklaces anytime soon. But it does make me think back to high school and simpler times when all we carried around were portable CD players as opposed to mini computers. What was the last CD in your Discman? Mine was either Blink 182 or Crazy Town. Embarrassing, but probably true!
Details: J.Crew turtleneck ($19) / Gap jeans / Chuck Taylors / Ray Bans / Michael Kors watch and cuff (gift)
I have been obsessing lately and filling my inspiration folder with pictures of outfits that incorporate sneakers. Go to J.Crew if you want to copy and reference the look because they are currently killing it in the sneaker department. Think Easter egg bright New Balances paired with skinny jeans or casual dresses. I could not want something more that I don’t need. I suppose that’s why we have this thing called lent.
When the sun poked its head out this weekend, I could not wait to break out my chuck taylors to give the chic casual sneaker look a try. This striped J.Crew tissue turtleneck that I found the week before Christmas on sale for $19 was the perfect way to set off the casual with a little chic. I find that this turtleneck is perfect for layering this time of year whether its under a puffer, cardigan or overcoat. How are you rocking your sneaks this spring? Did you do anything to celebrate the warmer weather?

I bought these burgundy jeans as soon as August got here. As far as colorful jeans go for fall, burgundy definitely felt like the right addition to my wardrobe, which is filled with a lot of navy, white, black and gray. There were so many potential outfits already built in waiting to happen. With all of those choices, I still wanted to challenge myself a little more with an interesting color combination. I knew these similar hues would really compliment each other for a more complex palate. The sweater helps to tie in the turquoise while making it pop at the same time. Just for fun, I wanted to show you this outfit dressed down with boots and dressed up slightly with leopard print heels. My only peeve with these jeans is how they get really loose after only a couple of hours of wear. Oh well! It’s the dryer for them!
