Peplum Sweater

Winter sure loses its appeal quickly. One minute you are making snow angels, the next minute you are driving to work cursing the skies. I feel the same way about winter outfits. I’ve been trying to keep things fresh lately, but that poses a challenge when the only chance of staying warm is to pile on the layers. For me that often turns into the same look over and over again. Sweater, button down skirt, repeat. When I found this peplum sweater in the clearance section at the Limited, I knew it would provide that small amount of variety I needed to really up my sweater game. How are you keeping things fresh?

Spring Style: Navy Blue and Brights

Details: Gap sweater / Jack Wills shirt c/o / Consignment J.Crew skirt / H&M tights / Halogen boots via Nordstrom

The little teases of warm weather we’ve had lately have left me wanting more. They have also left me breaking out into song “The hills are alive with the sound of music!” — and wearing all of my spring clothes despite how not warm it actually is. So maybe you want to try wearing your brights too, but you don’t want to look like you just stepped off of the set of Miami Vice? If you aren’t ready to break out into song quite yet, temper your brights with navy and a warm pair of shoes like these riding boots. Stay warm. Spring is almost here!

Wear to Work: Polka Dots and Jewel Tone

Details: Marshalls top and skirt / Gap sweater / Thrifted Ann Talyor shoes / J.Crew necklace / Michael Kors watch / Stella & Dot bracelet

Green and navy are an easy go to combination when you need an outfit fast as was the case yesterday morning when I had not laid out anything to wear for work the night before. Also, it wasn’t snowing yesterday, but I could have easily worn my riding boots with this outfit if that was the case. As it was the emerald jewel tone of this skirt was the perfect rich color for a fall day. I stuck with mostly navy otherwise to make the polka dots pop and I chose gold jewelry to go with the warm hues of this outfit. The brown loafers always make such a perfect statement with navy and green. What is your quick go-to outfit combination when you are running out the door?
