Layering

Nothing too exciting to report here. Just a simple black and white color scheme paired with my blue flare jeans. I am, however, excited that I was able to pull off the proportions of this outfit. I felt like maybe the blouse sticking out of the cropped sweater may have made the sweater look too small for me. Pulling the sleeves of the blouse all the way through the arm holes and letting the cuffs pop out in a messy way, helped to match the layering of the body of the blouse. I like how tailored the blouse looks compared with a cropped sweater and dressy jeans. Oh, and this is the debut of my new hair cut. Not very different right? But it was exactly what I wanted. My hairdresser tried to match the layering from the Miss Dior Cherie Natalie Portman photo I brought in. I think she did a really nice job.

Balancing act

I don’t know about you guys and galz but sometimes I get in a rut when it comes to my work attire. I am always trying to maintain my professional appearance while still expressing my personal style. I feel like this outfit really achieves that. The pencil skirt, although a typical work piece, is in a fun bright color. The gray sweater is more of a relaxed look, however, paired with the pencil skirt it is perfectly acceptable in my business casual office. The necklace helps to dress it up a bit. Looking professional and stylish in the office doesn’t have to be expensive either. The sweater is from H&M and the skirt was thrifted.

My wish list this Christmas!

┬áIt’s about time that I shared some kind of gift guide with you. What better way to share some Christmas gifting guidance than to show you some things that I am wishing for this year.

I love browsing J.Crew’s new Factory shop online. The J.Crew Factory bling-button cardigan ($29.50) looks warm and cozy and is a quality wardrobe staple at the right price.

I absolutely love Nine West’s Masquerade ($39.99) pump. Leopard print anything is probably a good idea this Christmas.

The Limited Statement Sparkle Drops Necklace ($39.90) is perfect for Christmas parties this year and parties for the New Year.

You may have seen NARS Heat Wave ($24.00) featured on the models that wore J.Crew’s Spring 2011 collection. For someone who likes to be ahead of the beauty curve this will be a big color for spring. This color will make the most basic outfit look special.
