$5 Floral and Striped Dress

I celebrated my 29th birthday over the weekend. Another year has passed, and I still have yet to feel older or different. When asked randomly how old I am, it’s remarkable if I can remember. It definitely feels like time is speeding up the older I get and the years are starting to blend together. Luckily, I celebrated my birthday with a very memorable 12 mile bike ride around Pittsburgh with the boy. No matter how old you are riding your bike will make you feel like a kid again.

We celebrated my birthday with a cookout at our friend’s new house that night, and I donned this great little number that I picked up at Goodwill for $5. I love how it does all the work for you by combining stripes and floral print. I played around with the styling a little bit for these picture and I love how the jean vest looks. It adds another layer without making you sweat in the summer heat. The jean vest takes it from party frock to music festival in an instant. Yet another versatile find from Goodwill.

Fiestaware

Forever 21 blouse / Target skirt / tights (?) / Nine West shoes / Michael Kors watch

I wore this outfit to a party a couple of weekends ago. I’ll be honest, I feel like I am channeling the colorful dinnerware that has made its way into the hearts and homes of many. Why be plain and boring when you can wear as many colors as possible? This was my first attempt this season at making a bright statement. I mean, really bright. I kept my tights and shoes simple and didn’t over accessorize. I let the colors be the statement. I was a little gun shy at first, but I really love the way it turned out. Embrace the Fiestaware inside you! (fist pump)

Sequin show

I was rummaging through the abyss of Marshalls when I came across this sequin skirt in the middle of the sweaters. It was obviously meant to be. I like that the sequins appear to be matte, and not too shiny or cheap. At $24.95, this skirt is much more affordable than J.Crew’s sequin skirt, featured here. I confess that I will always love J.Crew’s skirt more. Attempting not to make this a Siegfried & Roy ensemble, I paired it with more subdued colors. It was the perfect little touch of sparkle for my friend’s house warming party this weekend.

Party time!

I saw this dress at Dilliard’s over the weekend and I couldn’t stop myself from picturing it with accessories and shoes in a polyvore set. This would be a great outfit for New Year’s Eve or for a fancy Christmas party. All you need is a pair of warm tights.
