Red October

Do you feel it? The “fall” in the air?  I do! I was driving to work and for the first time this season saw a sea of colors along the side of the road. My fall/Halloween decorations are up and I am wearing tights. Tights! I am trying weird recipes involving pumpkin. Some good and some not so good. The only thing I haven’t done yet this season is have a pumpkin spice latte. And now I don’t think I will having seen the scary info graphic about its ingredients. Oh well! It’s a good excuse to try the local coffee place I guess. This is one of my first truly fall outfits. The colors and the layering say it all. Are you excited for fall? Or are you one of those people who wishes it was still summer?

The thing I miss most about the warmer weather besides the … warmer weather are the unabashedly bright colors. I like that with this outfit, I still get to be bright while looking appropriately wintery at the same time. Also, I am currently obsessed with this buffalo plaid scarf. I searched high and low for it at my local Gap after I saw it in a Christmas ad. I finally found it in the men’s section. It goes with any winter outfit and was a perfect complement for our date night, which involved ice skating at PPG plaza downtown and the Winter Lights Show at the Phipps.

Fall gets eerie

I love this spread for fall in the September issue of Vogue. I love the color, the idea, and most of the styles. I love the deep reds. I think the story of Little Red Riding Hood can be dark and scary, and I think that works well for the season—colors get darker, everything gets a little eerier…a little colder. So I thought that Shakira’s new song, She-Wolf, would have been great music to play while doing this photo shoot. I know that this is a stretch, and I have just completely jumped topics, but in my crazy mind this works perfectly…just go with it. Plus Shakira is awesome.
