I am all of the sudden into trouser, dress shorts, although I am normally concerned about their lack of flattery. These shorts are different because the leg hole isn’t meant to squeeze your thighs in the wrong places. The wide leg and the tulip appearance of them create a more flattering shape, complimenting already existing curves, depending on what you wear with it. They appeared on the Spring 2010 runway, Ellie Tahari, pictured above. And they are staying through Fall 2010, Azzaro, pictured below.
I am even liking the leather variety of shorts, albiet an impractical purchase. The Wall Street Journal made a reference to them being the only thing that the girl with everything doesn’t have in her closet, here.
The Blonde Salad styles them perfectly here. I think the loose style of the shorts look good with a fitted top.
I am loving army green jackets especially paired with really girly details like floral print dresses and skirts. It kind of makes me think of Jenny from Forest Gump, during her hippy phase. Throwing on one of these jackets would be a nice alternative to wearing a cardigan on those chilly spring nights. Here are some of my favorites for spring. Before I pick up one of these, I might have to take a trip to the Army Navy story to see what’s in stock.
My friend Dan and I went to this outdoor mall where they have restaurants and shopping. After being told that the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed for a private party we had to choose a more upscale establishment. All we wanted to do was sit outside. So we waited for the table on the patio for 30 minutes. We didn’t have the friendliest waitress in the world but we made the best of a beautiful night. Here I am trying to incorporate sequins into my everyday work look. This tank top from the Limited is about 3 years old, and I never wear it during the day. This is a nice way to play with the classic white shirt with black skirt combo.

I really want to break out a bright outfit like this one for work. I love pairing two very bright colors together.
The thing I love about blogging is finding out about these brands and lines of clothing that hide in chic little boutiques and stores in New York, Chicago, and LA, and never make their way to places like Cleveland. While reading one of my favorite New Yorker’s blog, I came upon Wren. The clothes are so fun and have such a Parisian feel to them. They are one of the many places, where I am seeing these espadrille shoes. I also loved the one’s I found here, from Toms.
So I broke my shopping freeze for the first time over the weekend. There were many reasons for my downfall. First of all I was given a special invitation to an after hours Victoria’s Secret party to premiere the new Body by Victoria bras. I thought “Ohhh, a party, they will probably have food and drinks.” That’s seriously what motivates me. (They didn’t) And then I saw all of the bright colors out for spring and summer and gave in. I have so had it with winter and I am ready for sunnier weather to be here so I picked up a couple of their bright sleep tees and a new Body by Victoria push up bra. The new bras are really soft and have memory foam in them. A comfortable bra was very hard to resist. I guess you could argue that sleep shirts and a bra aren’t really indulgent purchases, but when you buy them at Victoria’s Secret I think that counts as indulgent. So I got through basically two months without spending, which is still an accomplishment and I plan to finish my last month without spending.
Generally I don’t spend a lot of time looking at or buying Victoria’s Secret clothing, but when it comes to summer, I am all about their styles for some reason. They always have really bright colors. And I am all about a new pair of brown sandals this summer too. What are you looking forward to wearing this summer? I know I will be wearing dresses as many days as I can.
I first saw this outfit and photography blogger, The Snail and the Cyclopse, via Katie on the Neo-Traditionalist. Since then I have been obsessed with her vintage style and artistic photos. These images especially make me feel ready for spring and the slight heat wave we had over the weekend (47 degrees). Don’t worry, snow is on it’s way.
