One of my favorite summer trends this year is the off the shoulder top. It’s flirty yet sophisticated and keeps hot fabric off your shoulders, giving you a little break from the heat and a sunkissed look. I found this one at the online boutique Goodnight Macaroon. This store has so many cute and unique items. I especially love the tie sleeves of this blouse. I wore this outfit for the Feast in Little Italy in Cleveland last weekend.
There are a few things that you need to know when shopping Goodnight Macaroon. The items are usually shipped from China so it takes a while for them to arrive. This top took about a month to arrive. Also, if you want to return something, it will likely cost more than the item itself so make sure to read the measurement information, which is listed for each item, very carefully and compare to your own measurements. That being said, they often have flash sales during the week so you may never have to pay full price if you time your purchase right. This top is only $34.50 for the next day or so.
After being on vacation for a week, I needed something simple for my first day back to work. I chose this dress because it never requires ironing. It’s a $20 purchase from Gap that will continue to more than pay for itself in time saved. This jacket that I purchased from Goodwill years ago was a last minute decision as I was rushing out the door. These colors just complement each other so well that the bright colors do not feel overdone. Not to mention, I have complementary

I celebrated my 29th birthday over the weekend. Another year has passed, and I still have yet to feel older or different. When asked randomly how old I am, it’s remarkable if I can remember. It definitely feels like time is speeding up the older I get and the years are starting to blend together. Luckily, I celebrated my birthday with a very memorable 12 mile bike ride around Pittsburgh with the boy. No matter how old you are riding your bike will make you feel like a kid again.
We celebrated my birthday with a cookout at our friend’s new house that night, and I donned this great little number that I picked up at Goodwill for $5. I love how it does all the work for you by combining stripes and floral print. I played around with the styling a little bit for these picture and I love how the jean vest looks. It adds another layer without making you sweat in the summer heat. The jean vest takes it from party frock to music festival in an instant. Yet another versatile find from Goodwill.

The one thing I procrastinate purchasing every year is a new swimsuit. I always think that I can wait until the swimsuit I want goes on sale. Every year I go back to the store a little later and find that there are not two pieces I could realistically match together on the sale rack. So every year I end up settling for something I’m not entirely happy with. This year, I decided to just buy the first swimsuit I fell in love with. I was strolling through my local Target in January when I saw it. This red and navy blue striped beauty was only $34! My recommendation is to snatch up the bathing suit you love now, especially from Target. They go like hot cakes! And be sure to accessorize with gold, canvas stripes and a messy beach braid.

I have been obsessing lately and filling my inspiration folder with pictures of outfits that incorporate sneakers. Go to J.Crew if you want to copy and reference the look because they are currently killing it in the sneaker department. Think Easter egg bright New Balances paired with skinny jeans or casual dresses. I could not want something more that I don’t need. I suppose that’s why we have this thing called lent.
When the sun poked its head out this weekend, I could not wait to break out my chuck taylors to give the chic casual sneaker look a try. This striped J.Crew tissue turtleneck that I found the week before Christmas on sale for $19 was the perfect way to set off the casual with a little chic. I find that this turtleneck is perfect for layering this time of year whether its under a puffer, cardigan or overcoat. How are you rocking your sneaks this spring? Did you do anything to celebrate the warmer weather?
Do you guys remember the movie Factory Girl? The story of Edie Sedgewick, socialite and muse to Andy Warhol. Ever since that movie came out, all I have wanted to do was run around in shift dresses and be fabulous. The typical life of a socialite. However, I think I would feel bad doing nothing, so I would have to become a super witty 60s spy or something. But anyways, when I saw this dress at Gap in the sale section, my heart skipped a beat. For $25 I could, in fact, be fabulous! Not to mention it’s bright and graphic, trends I have been really into lately. I can see myself pairing this with black tights on cool fall days.
If looking like pop art, isn’t enough, I smell like it too. While reading an interview with Sarah Heyward, writer for HBO’s GIRLS on Loop de Luxe, I was tipped off about A Beautiful Life Brands, PoP Eau de Parfum. The scent goes on strong but mellows out for a nice everyday perfume. I was able to get the already affordable perfume at a discount, so I highly recommend you check out Loop de Luxe.

I have added leopard print in subtle doses to my wardrobe. A pair of heels here, a belt there. Basically the antithesis of a Lady Gaga exhibition-style effort. Oftentimes, I have been on trend pairing it with a contrasting pattern or bright color. To mix it up for fall I have gone completely subtle. Pairing it with this neutral tan cardigan makes the belt look like it goes with the ensemble. I think there is nothing wrong with accessories looking like they go with your outfit, even though sometimes it is more fun to wear something loud that contrasts. The off-kilter look, which J.Crew has made popular with its style guide, is one of my favorite looks, but sometimes it’s OK to match.

Ah! This dress. One of my most treasured finds this summer. It is from the MNG by Mango for JC Penny line, which by the way was surprisingly good. The perfect day dress for baby showers and bridal showers. For a more casual wedding this dress has legs. Literally. The puckered shoulders and key hole are great details and who doesn’t love stripes? I hope you all found a great day dress you fell in love with this summer. Do tell us about it!
Express tunic / James Jeans / H&M blazer / Nine West sandals / J.Crew necklace / Michael Kors watch (gift) / South Dakota Black Hills gold ring
After a busy weekend spent cleaning my apartment and running errands, I never want Monday to come. I just want to lay on my couch and watch day time television such as the Ellen show and eat Trader Joe’s frozen mango slices while wearing unnecessarily baggy sweat pants. But life is not like that. So I had to compromise by wearing this comfy tunic.
This gray striped tunic is a nice change up from my fifty blue and white striped tops. I also like the way that gray, white, black and tan stand out when paired together. The black skinnies, blazer and gladiator sandals look sharp and structured, especially when paired with a loose fitting top.
