I’m trying to slowly transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. As much as I love fall, I want to appreciate summer for as long as I can. I started this outfit with a navy blue sweater, which is lightweight and great for any season, and added this summery striped skirt. A pop of red is perfect for this all blue ensemble and the gold necklace adds that extra bit of polish for work. What are you wearing to transition from summer to fall?
I love a good jean jacket. I have for a long time. As you can see I’m still wearing the same one from high school. If you can comfortably avoid taking yourself too seriously at work, a jean jacket is a nice way to switch up your typical work wear. I like how it tames this bright pink pencil skirt and keeps me warm in our frigid office during the summer months. I’d love to hear about what you’ve been wearing lately.
This top is so me. It’s quirky, it’s undecided, it’s beautiful, it has many layers. And yet it works. It’s like organized chaos. I’m all about it. Somehow every pattern and every color is boldly on display at the same time. There’s a balance to the crazy that I’m obsessed with. It’s outfits like these that make me feel like I get to wear what’s on the inside: a patchwork of experiences that all somehow fit together to make this random but beautiful life. Also, I’m claiming this as my Mamma Mia shirt! It’s the type of shirt you can stuff in a suitcase and wear anywhere yet look confidently cool and at home. What outfit defines you?
These white flower earrings are my favorite new piece of jewelry. I’ve been wearing them all summer with everything from casual outfits like this one to party dresses. They add such an interesting element to any outfit whether my hair is up or down. I especially love them with this white and red striped J.Crew top I found at Goodwill. What kind jewelry have you been gravitating toward lately?
P.S. My jeans are currently 40% off at Nordstrom.
How cool is this flower print jumpsuit? It’s one of those statement pieces that makes me feel like a totally different person in a good way. It’s like an instant boost of confidence with its elongating features and bold print. My boyfriend bought it for my birthday this year, and I have to say he did a great job. I love the keyhole and bow in the front. Everything about it just works. And it’s the easiest outfit to put together. Just throw on some heels and subtle jewelry and the jumpsuit carries the look. What has been your go to look this summer?
The sun is out and it’s getting warmer and nicer by the day, which means it’s time to start adding bright colors and fun textures to your wardrobe. In preparation for the summer months, I purchased these BaubleBar Tassel Earrings because I knew they would be the perfect complement to white jeans and nautical tops and many other combinations. They’re versatile enough to wear with a maxi dress for dinner and drinks or with a white t-shirt and jean shorts for strolling around town. Right now I’m slowly starting to introduce them with outfits that are yearning for a pop of color, like this navy blue sweater with jeans. What are you starting to wear more of now that the weather is nice?
I’m a sucker for a dramatic sleeve and this one had me at hello. With its sweet, light blue pattern and pintuck detail, it’s a nice daytime option for either work or play. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to contrast the voluminous sleeves with a more fitted silhouette like this BR Factory skirt. I love playing with proportions. The cherry on top of this outfit is really this pair of Madewell slingback flats. Aren’t they fun?
If you love the blouse, you maybe be able to find it at TJ Maxx. I got mine there for $24. If you can’t find it there, it’s also available via Nordstrom Rack at the link above for less than $35.
At the end of June, the boyfriend and I went to Annapolis, one of our favorite cities. We go almost every year. The downtown area of the city is so charming with its classic blue, yellow, red and white houses with gorgeous porch gardens and wreaths adorning almost every door. The restaurants and bars are an eclectic mix of Irish pubs, seafood restaurants and newer concepts such as a sushi joint and taco place. Here is last year’s guide to Annapolis including specific shopping and restaurant suggestions.
This year we split our time between Annapolis, Arlington, D.C. and Baltimore to see friends and family. We saw a great exhibit at the American History Museum on the flag from the War of 1812 that inspired the “Star Spangled Banner.” It was awesome! I highly recommend it. I tried a great restaurant in Arlington called Fig and Olive. And I got to watch the Cavs win a championship with my sister. All in all it was a great trip.
One of my favorite outfits from the weekend was this H&M dress. I think the blue and white pattern is perfect for summer and will look even better once I have a tan. The wide ruffle at the top is a great flirty detail.
While in Baltimore, I found my hat soulmate, spirit animal and partner in crime if I ever go to the Kentucky Derby….

Tassel earrings are one of my favorite trends this summer. I got mine from Baublebar and I love the bright turquoise. The pop of color pairs well with everything in my summer wardrobe. And because they are so long, they’re actually visible when I wear them with my hair down. They’re great for jazzing up a work outfit, but they’ll be even better at the beach this summer.
When it comes to me and white pants, I get very nervous. In my hurry to get everything done as quickly as possible, I can be somewhat accident prone. More than once, I have rested my coffee mug on top of my car as I put all of my stuff in the backseat and somehow knocked it off either while reaching for it or by closing the door too hard. Coffee then splatters everywhere, including on whatever stain-showing outfit I am wearing at the moment. That being said, If there was an equivalent to plastic couch covers for pants, I would consider wearing them. Without said plastic pants covers, I tried to take my time while wearing these new jeans and I had almost no stains. Almost meaning I did get a small spot of ink on them, but that’s what a Clorox Bleach Pen is for.
Aside from my anxiety that I will somehow soil these jeans, I’m really happy with the way they fit. They are not too tight and have a little bit of a stretch to them. I can definitely see myself dressing them up a little more with heels and a nice top, but this is a nice casual alternative.
