I’m trying to slowly transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. As much as I love fall, I want to appreciate summer for as long as I can. I started this outfit with a navy blue sweater, which is lightweight and great for any season, and added this summery striped skirt. A pop of red is perfect for this all blue ensemble and the gold necklace adds that extra bit of polish for work. What are you wearing to transition from summer to fall?

We certainly haven’t gotten to the point of the year weather-wise where removing layers or even sections of clothing seems like a sensible idea, even still I can’t help but be into the cold shoulder look right now. It’s provocative without being too sexy. They are just shoulders after all. And if you pair a top like this with a sensible winter coat, my theory is you should be fine, even without shoulder covers. I’m excited to wear this as a casual alternative to my usual dressy Valentine’s Day attire. I found this sweater at Abercrombie and Fitch of all places. It’s marked down from $44 to $26 right now. I especially love how this is a more casual take on the cold shoulder look. It’s a bit slouchy and the material could not be more soft, so you can pair it with everything from a skirt to jeans.
I was ready for fall on approximately July 28. Yeah — I’m obsessed! I have been on the lookout since then for anything fall themed. Something that has been on my fall/winter wardrobe wish list for a while are pattern sweaters. I was specifically looking for something like this southwestern print sweater.
When I saw this sweater while shopping Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by the different take on the fall cardigan with its interesting patchwork and asymmetrical design. In this color, I can wear it casually with a flannel or to work with dress pants. Over the weekend, when we were experiencing unusually chilly temps, I decided to layer it over this great tunic that I also scored at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Like I told my sister, she can give me a Nordstrom Gift Card for my birthday every year if she’d like. 🙂
The tunic is longer so it can be worn over leggings and has a nice drape to it. I didn’t realize how see through it was. I probably wont wear a tank top underneath it next time since it’s so noticeable.
This sweater with any top, skinny jeans or dress pants and boots is a great fall go-to!

Working on the Goodwill Good Style Fashion Show inspires me every year. After shopping for the show, I always come away realizing how much I could be saving on clothing by shopping at Goodwill. You may not always get exactly what you want, but if you put in the time and have a little patience you can find some real gems in the racks of your local Goodwill. You have to be willing to see the potential in something.
This sweater I am wearing was found while shopping for the show one year. It’s a size large from J.Crew. Now normally I would not fit into a size large, but I couldn’t help but notice that it looked a little small so I tried it on. It fit great. Clearly someone had washed the sweater and shrunk it, which is why it was sitting at a Goodwill. Besides the fact that the sweater is in great condition and was very inexpensive, it feels like I have something very unique in my closet. It’s something I wear all the time.
Do you shop at Goodwill? If so, what was your best find?
