Wardrobe staples

Brooks Brother’s Blouse, $89.50
Via Spiga Pump, $175
Longchamp Purse, $285

Another thing I learned while on my spending freeze was that there are a lot of classic wardrobe staples I have never gotten around to purchasing because I was always impulsively buying “fun” clothes. I never had a shopping list of clothes I actually needed. With a shopping list in hand, I feel less tempted to spend frivolously, and I am more inclined to wait until I find that perfect black pump or crisp white shirt. I prefer to spend more money on pieces like these because I know they will be worn over and over again. I have a white shirt that I bought for $15 at New York and Company. It was cheap and easy to buy at the time, but the shirt is a really thin material that easily wrinkles. It also has lost the buttons on its french cuff. We all know that just won’t do.  My sister swears by the blouses at Brooks Brothers. I would suggest investing in one of their shirts when they are having a sale. Basics likes these are also easy to find at TJ maxx and Marshalls, and you usually have your choice of brand names.
