Winter Makeup Routine

Lately I have been drawn to a much more simple look when I do my makeup. I was inspired when I saw Miranda Kerr wearing just a bright lip and smokey bronze eyes. Although the simple looks probably works best when the rest of your “outfit” is stealing the show, I thought I’d give this a try for my everyday office look.

Here is how I achieved this look:

1. I have been skipping the heavy foundation and instead I put on Aveeno Positively Radiant tinted moisturizer everyday for a more natural but even skin tone.Plus it helps to stop my skin from drying out in this winter weather.

2. Next I put on a very light blush. I like Dandelion Benefit blush.

3. One time I had my makeup done at an Aveda salon. They used bronze eye shadow on me and I have been meaning to try that look on my own for years. I love Mac eyeshadow in bronze with Maybelline mascara in blackest black. I forgot to picture it but I always use Too Faced primer before I put on any shadow.

4. For noticeable lips I wear Maybelline lip gloss in gleaming grenadine.

5. If I am going out and I want to add more to the look, I wear Mac eyeliner in graphblack on both my top and lower lids.

Fun-in-the-sun Package!

When I received this recipe for a cucumber foot mask from Glamour, I thought of a great gift idea for my sisters (they both have birthdays in January). I found a cute pair of sandals (they are on sale now), a bright nail polish, and put this homemade foot mask in Ball Jars and tied on the ribbon. I call them Fun-in-the-sun packages to help deal with the snowy, gloomy weather. They may not be able to use the sandals right away, but they can make their feet sandal ready with the foot mask and nail polish. I just used the leftovers of the foot mask and it makes your skin feel nice and soft.

Winter chic

Yesterday, the high was 26 degrees. So based on the peak in temperature, I thought it would be a good idea to take my outfit pics outside. Too bad the snow is so bright it blinded me, and I am squinting in all of these photos. I was going for warmth and comfort with this outfit. I really like the way the casual knit sweater contrasts with the bright pink, flowy skirt. I feel like these gray, fold over ankle boots add to the contrast of city chic and country chic.

Jack Wills: Holiday Looks

Jack Wills, UK clothing line and recent arrival to the U.S., has some perfect looks for the winter/holiday season. You can always count on their preppy plaids, blazers, and oxford button downs, but I am loving the glittery detailing on the Arkendale Sequin Dress and Runfold footless tights. I will definitely be using these looks as inspiration, especially pairing my plaid shirt with a ruffled skirt.

The first snow/outfit post

I was very surprised this Friday while on my way to Michael Symon’s latest Cleveland culinary experience, BSpot, I found myself caught in what can only be described as a freak snow storm. So on Saturday when I ventured out for some early Christmas shopping, I was ready with the Wellies. I like the way I wore this gingham shirt much better than last time. Even though the shirt is of a thicker material, I needed another layer to stay warm in this unexpected cold weather, hence the sweater tunic. Has anyone had their first snow/snow storm? Want to move to Cleveland? The weather is beautiful!

Wishful thinking and winter hysteria all at once

So I broke my shopping freeze for the first time over the weekend. There were many reasons for my downfall. First of all I was given a special invitation to an after hours Victoria’s Secret party to premiere the new Body by Victoria bras. I thought “Ohhh, a party, they will probably have food and drinks.” That’s seriously what motivates me. (They didn’t) And then I saw all of the bright colors out for spring and summer and gave in. I have so had it with winter and I am ready for sunnier weather to be here so I picked up a couple of their bright sleep tees and a new Body by Victoria push up bra. The new bras are really soft and have memory foam in them. A comfortable bra was very hard to resist. I guess you could argue that sleep shirts and a bra aren’t really indulgent purchases, but when you buy them at Victoria’s Secret I think that counts as indulgent. So I got through basically two months without spending, which is still an accomplishment and I plan to finish my last month without spending.

Generally I don’t spend a lot of time looking at or buying Victoria’s Secret clothing, but when it comes to summer, I am all about their styles for some reason. They always have really bright colors. And I am all about a new pair of brown sandals this summer too. What are you looking forward to wearing this summer? I know I will be wearing dresses as many days as I can.

Fall/Winter looks for J.Crew

I think the styling of J.Crew models is so perfect. The hair, the makeup, and obviously the clothes. Don’t you love the few pieces of her hair sticking out from her messy bun and the pretty red lipstick? This is a great winter look.
I also have to say that I love the whole tights under shorts look, and I desperately want to recreate this outfit. If I had a uniform, I would want it to be this.
